WARREN A. CROCKETT
For Detroit Charter Commission

About Me

As an active member of the UAW (United Auto Workers) Region 1A and Local 245, Warren Crockett has always had a desire to serve people.  He became a political activist in 1996 volunteering to assist in the support of elected officials endorsed by the UAW.

Warren’s community involvement stretches across many fronts including the UAW Leadership Institute, CBTU (Coalition of Black Trade Unions), TULC (Trade Union Leadership Council), and the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People).  Warren Crockett is a five-year volunteer with the City of Ecorse’s “Good Neighbor Day” assisting with repairs for senior citizens and small renovations for public parks in the City of Ecorse. His community involvement also includes The Boys and Girls Club and volunteering to build ramps for United Way.

Warren is a graduate of Wayne State University Labor Studies Program, a skilled tradesman / maintenance technician at Ford Motor Company,  a member of the Skilled Trades Task Force for the City of Detroit (a 4-year apprenticeship from 1990 to 1994), and a City of Detroit business owner.

Warren was inspired to run for the City Charter Commission because of the current government chaos, wasteful spending and lack of accountability. Crockett knows the importance of having a clearly defined process to provide clear policy revisions and procedures that directly affect the citizens and business leaders of Detroit.  It is imperative for the restoration of our city that the charter, which hasn’t been modified since January 1, 1997, speaks to and addresses the many challenges that our city has endured.

As a member of the Charter Commission, Crockett will be committed to the revitalization and restoration of  Detroit.  Ensuring that the citizens are informed and educated about the existing Charter language, listening to the voices of change, allowing the citizens to participate in revamping the charter to fit our redeveloping city, giving our young people a future here at home (Detroit) and not in other states, is what Warren Crockett promises to deliver. As a member of the Charter Commission, Crockett proposes to protect and serve the citizens through the power of participation.

Warren’s commitment is to serve the citizens of Detroit with Honesty, Respect, and Integrity
